I passed this ancient apple tree on Mann Road for several summers before drawing it.
I marveled at how this hollowed, shriveled shell of a tree stayed alive year after year.
While in the midst of drawing its fruit and its sinuous lumps and bumps,
the tree was unceremoniously cut down.
This print survives as a testament to its tenacity.
